Pixler, Braun top academic lists

Two-time Division II women ‘s cross country champion Jessica Pixler of Seattle Pacific repeated as the sport’s scholar-athlete of the year and 2008 national runner-up Aaron Braun of Adams State claimed top honors among men selected for all-academic recognition by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

Pixler, who also was the association’s Division II cross country athlete of the year last fall, led the 243 women who claimed coaches’ all-academic honors this year, while Braun, who led his squad to the 2008 team championship, was among 138 men who were listed.

Pixler is a junior English major, and Braun is a sophomore mathematics major.

Seattle Pacific placed the most honorees on the women’s all-academic list with seven, while three squads – Christian Brothers, Slippery Rock and Western State (Colorado) – each placed five members on the men’s list.
