Wayne State (Michigan) softball coach Gary Bryce recorded his 900th career coaching victory with a 10-6 win over visiting Northwood on March 28.

The Warriors scored three runs in both the first and second innings and withstood a late Timberwolves rally in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game.

The victory completed a doubleheader sweep for the Warriors and enabled Bryce, who is in his 28th year at Wayne State, to become the seventh NCAA Division II softball coach with 900 wins. He is the 23rd NCAA softball coach (counting all three divisions) to reach 900 career victories. Bryce was inducted into the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Hall of Fame last December.

The milestone also happened to occur on the longtime coach’s birthday.
