Saint Augustine’s pitchers Brandon Stewart and Ryan Wood recently hurled no-hitters for the Falcons. While it’s unusual for teammates to register no-nos in the same season, it’s truly rare for them to be on the same day.

Behind the no-hit pitching of Stewart and Wood, the Falcons swept Lincoln (Pennsylvania), 10-1 25-2 March 8. It is believed to be the first time – at least in recent memory– that two pitchers tossed no-hitters on the same day. No-hitters are unusual to begin with, as only four were registered in Division II last season – one of them by none other than Stewart. He blanked Voorhees on April 11, 2008.

Stewart struck out six batters and allowed one run in seven innings against Lincoln. Wood, also a sophomore, collected seven strikeouts in seven innings in the second game.

There hasn’t been a single season in Division II since 1957 in which there were more than 10 no-hitters thrown.
