Following is a summary of Division II new from the week of April 20-24.

The Division II Management Council was the first leadership group to examine preliminary proposals regarding the division’s playing and practice seasons. Division II presidents and chancellors called for the policy review to ensure alignment with the Division II strategic-positioning platform. The Management Council supported several of the concepts being forwarded, including a later reporting date for fall-sport athletes.

The Council also endorsed proposed definitions and parameters regarding the organized-competition rule, including an expanded “grace period” for incoming student-athletes.

An intern position funded by a Division II conference grant has paid dividends both for Emily Moses and the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association.

The good news for Central Missouri senior pitcher Megan Leonard is that she tied the NCAA Division II mark for consecutive scoreless innings pitched recently. The bad news is that she surrendered a lead-off homer in her very next game.
