Following is a summary of Division II news from the week of March 2-6.

Kutztown’s “Paint the Town Gold” initiative was selected as the national winner of Division II’s Community Engagement Award of Excellence for 2009. Conference winners also were announced. Kutztown will be recognized at the Division II community engagement workshop in Philadelphia April 15-16.

Division II is preparing for its first winter-sports version of the National Championships Festival next week in Houston. The festival will crown champions in wrestling, men’s and women’s swimming and diving, and men’s and women’s indoor track and field. Competition also will be streamed live online at NCAA.com.

A high school district in Topeka, Kansas, is considering hosting a postseason bowl game with a participant from the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association and a conference to be determined.
