Following is a summary of Division II news from the week of June 15-19.

Division II has awarded the first grants from an annual membership fund designed to attract new member schools, stabilize current membership and discourage attrition. A seven-member selection committee chaired by Henderson State President Emeritus Charles Dunn awarded eight grants totaling $75,100.

The Peach Belt Conference decided to reduce the maximum number in games in baseball and softball from 56 to 50. That action was among several the conference took to align with Division II’s “Life in the Balance” initiative.

The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference plans to add Lake Erie and Ohio Dominican once those schools complete their matriculation as full Division II members.

The Great Lakes Valley Conference staged a professional-development opportunity for female coaches and administrators.

Former Shippensburg AD Roberta Page began her tenure as an NCAA national office staff member this week. The new director of championships participated in an NCAA News Q&A about her experience and the value of NCAA championships.
