Following is a summary of Division II news from the week of March 16-20.

  • Dell Robinson, who has been with the Division I Mid-American Conference for the last 10 years, has been appointed to succeed Tom Brown as commissioner of the Division II Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, effective in June.
  • Kutztown senior Steph Denlinger hit his 63rd career home run March 14 to break the NCAA Division II career record. The new mark was set on a three-run blast in the fourth inning of a 10-0 win over West Virginia State.
  • The NCAA News was on hand to cover the fourth Division II National Championships Festival March 10-14 in Houston. The festival crowned champions in wrestling, men’s and women’s swimming and diving, and men’s and women’s indoor track and field.
  • Missouri Southern AD Sallie Beard announced her retirement after 37 years in Division II athletics administration.
