Winthrop women’s soccer coach Melissa Heinz earned her 100th career coaching victory when the Lady Eagles beat Wofford, 2-1, in double overtime September 13.

“I am happy to achieve 100 wins,” Heinz said. “All of the games have been memorable, especially the wins … The wins also help me think of the players you have coached and worked hard for those wins.”

Heinz is Winthrop’s first women’s soccer coach, and she has held the position since 2002. Heinz was named Big South Conference coach of the year in 2006 after leading the Lady Eagles to the Big South regular-season championship.

Heniz’s career record is now 101-96-16. The Lady Eagles are 3-6-1 on the season and face Liberty on October 9.
