The New Meadowlands Stadium will host select Syracuse football games in 2012, 2014 and 2016.

The Orange will play Southern California at the New Jersey stadium in 2012 and Notre Dame in 2014 and 2016.

The New Meadowlands Stadium is set for completion in 2010. Syracuse Athletics Director Daryl Gross called the collaboration a “tremendous opportunity.”

“We embrace the opportunity to play in the New York metropolitan area, which boasts our most popular alumni base,” he said. “As the only BCS team in the state of New York, we feel it is our responsibility to represent this region successfully. The national exposure and playing these traditional college football programs are exciting for us as we look forward to re-establishing our own football tradition.”

Syracuse first played a football game at the Meadowlands in 1979 against Penn State and West Virginia. The Orange are 5-3 in the stadium.

The New Meadowlands will seat 82,500 fans, with 9,500 club seats and 222 luxury suites. The stadium will have 40-by-130-foot video replay boards and a fan-centered outdoor plaza.
