Stephen F. Austin women’s volleyball coach Debbie Humphreys earned her 500th career victory October 17 when the Lady Jacks defeated Texas-San Antonio, 3-2.

“I’m honestly more relieved than excited,” Humphreys said. “I am glad to have it behind us so we can focus on the rest of the season. It’s nice to get it done on the first opportunity. We were certainly aware of it. I am pleased with the effort by the girls and the outcome.”

Humphreys is the 35th active coach to accumulate 500 wins and the first to do so in the Southland Conference. She is 500-226 since coming to Stephen F. Austin 21 years ago. A standout student-athlete at Texas Tech, Humphreys earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees while earning all-conference honors.

The Ladyjacks are 16-9 overall, 5-2 in the conference.
