Big East Coordinator of Football Officials Terry McAulay will referee Super Bowl XLIII between the Arizona Cardinals and the Pittsburgh Steelers. McAulay also worked the 2005 Super Bowl between the New England Patriots and the Philadelphia Eagles.

He earned the job through an NFL evaluation system that chooses the highest-rated officials at each position with at least five years of NFL experience and previous playoff assignments to work the game.

McAulay has worked in the NFL for 11 seasons, officiating nine playoff games, including Baltimore’s victory over Tennessee earlier this month. He also refereed the 1998 BCS National Championship Game. He has been with the Big East since July 2008.
