LSU’s basketball teams recently opened their new $14 million practice facility.

The women’s team began practicing in the building at the end of November, while the men’s team hit the new courts December 4.

The two practice gyms opened this month, while the remainder of the 58,960-square-foot facility should be completed early next year.

In addition to the gymnasium space, the facility will include a new dressing room, lounge, laundry room, equipment and training rooms, and a new media room. The facility also will include a room that can hold about 500 people for pre- and postgame functions.

Each of the two gyms is 11,324 square feet, with a regulation-length NCAA court and two regulation-length high school courts running in the opposite direction. The courts are replicas of the Maravich Center competition court, with two portable goals and four overhead retractable goals.

Each of the gyms also includes a video filming balcony and a scorer’s table.
