Georgia women’s basketball coach Andy Landers earned his 800th career victory January 15 when the Lady Bulldogs beat Savannah State, 74-28.

Landers, a head coach for 34 years, has a career record of 800-253. He is the fifth Division I women’s coach to reach the milestone, joining Pat Summitt (Tennessee), Jody Conradt (formerly of Texas), Vivian Stringer (Rutgers) and Sylvia Hatchell (North Carolina).

“It’s just another game,” Landers said. “That it’s number 800 doesn’t make me happy. I’m happy with the way the team played and how we rotated most everyone into the game.”

Landers coached four seasons at Roane State Community College in Tennessee, earning an 82-21 record before moving to Athens, where he has spent the past 30 years.
