Donohoe named to USA Basketball board

NCAA Vice President for Division I Women’s Basketball Sue Donohoe was named to the USA Basketball Board of Directors for 2009-12. Donohoe will chair the Women’s Junior National Team Committee, formerly known as the Women’s Collegiate Committee.

Other members of the Women’s Junior National Team Committee are women’s basketball coaches Joanne Boyle, California; Coquese Washington, Penn State; Connie Yori, Nebraska; and Beth Cunningham, Virginia Commonwealth.

The Men’s Junior National Committee is chaired by Jim Boeheim, head coach at Syracuse. Committee members include Lorenzo Romar, Washington head coach; Bruce Weber, Illinois head coach; Roy Williams, North Carolina head coach; and Jay Williams, member of the 2002 USA World Championship Team.

The two committees will select coaches and athletes for USA Basketball college-aged competitions, including the 2009 and 2011 World University Games and the 2011 Pan American Games. The members represent different geographic regions of the country.

Other NCAA representatives named to the board include Ohio State Athletics Director Gene Smith (finance and audit committee), Coordinator of Men’s Officiating John Adams and Coordinator of Women’s Officiating Mary Struckhoff (both members of the officials advisory panel).
