The following is a summary of Division I news for the week of February 9-13:

•         Active coaches took part in a mock selection process for the Division I Women’s Basketball Championship. The coaches were part of a mock committee that followed the same principles and procedures the real committee will stick to when it makes its selections next month. The mock selection exercise has become annual for both the Men’s and Women’s Basketball Committees.

•         Newly elected Division I Student-Athlete Advisory Committee Chair Matt Baysinger shared his thoughts and goals for the future. He also discussed how his experiences as a student-athlete shaped his future.

•         The Committee on Academic Performance will hear appeals of the postseason ban penalty, the third stage of historically based penalties. The committee also plans to discuss 2-4 transfers and the coaches APR.

•         Robin Harris will lead the Ivy Group when current Executive Director Jeff Orleans retires June 30, 2009. Harris, a longtime sports law attorney, also worked at the NCAA national office for nearly a decade.
