Following is a summary of Division I news from the week of August 31-September 4.

  • The Southeastern Conference introduced a legislative proposal that would require football graduate assistant coaches in the Football Bowl Subdivision to have graduated or exhausted athletics eligibility within the previous seven years. It is one of several proposals the Legislative Council will consider dealing with personnel issues.
  • The Division I Student-Athlete Advisory Committee welcomed nine new members. The student-athletes will represent their peers to the Division I governance structure.
  • St. Joseph’s men’s lacrosse joined the Colonial Athletic Association as an associate member. The Hawks will continue to compete in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference during the 2010 season.
