Citadel baseball coach Fred Jordan won his 600th career game March 29 when his Bulldogs beat Air Force, 4-1.

Fresh from a Gatorade-bath celebration, he told the local paper what the win meant to him.

“It’s special,” he said. “A lot of great players and a lot of memories.”

Junior catcher Richard Jones’ three-run homer helped Jordan become the fastest coach to the 600-win mark in Southern Conference history. He completed the feat in less than 18 full seasons.

Jordan, a former Citadel baseball student-athlete, now holds a 601-437 record after the Bulldogs topped South Carolina, 12-5, on March 31.
