The Division I Committee on Academic Performance will review a summary of preliminary Academic Progress Rate data and discuss the Division I head coaches APR portfolio at the group’s April 27-28 meeting in Indianapolis.

The most recent APR data and penalty assessments are in the final stages of preparation, set for a May 6 public release. The committee will review the data that are available, including numbers of both immediate and historically based penalties, the performance of individual sports, and eligibility and retention calculations.

The committee will also review the impact of adjustments, waivers, delayed graduation points, and recent policy changes on the overall and individual sport APRs.

Additionally, the committee is expected to discuss the head coaches APR portfolio, a publicly searchable Web site that will display the single-year APR for which a head coach is associated with a team. The site is set for a phased launch, with the initial information (baseball, football, men’s and women’s basketball, and women’s indoor and outdoor track coaches) to be available sometime in 2010. Other sports would be available in 2011.

The committee will also approve a process for determining the waiver procedures for student-athletes who wish to transfer because Academic Performance Program penalties have made their teams ineligible for championships.
