Jacqueline Campbell, NCAA director of women’s basketball, has been selected as the new director of Division I. She replaces Beth DeBauche, who left the NCAA in September to become commissioner of the Ohio Valley Conference.

Campbell held a similar position with Division I in the 1990s. She rejoined the NCAA staff in the basketball capacity in 2008.

A veteran of more than 20 years in sports administration and compliance, Campbell has experience at institutions and a conference office. Immediately before joining the women’s basketball staff last year, Campbell held an associate commissioner’s position at the Atlantic 10 Conference. While with the Atlantic 10, she chaired the Division I Management Council.

Campbell had prior campus experience at Maryland as associate director of athletics for compliance, at Connecticut as associate director of athletics for student services and at Pittsburgh as administrative assistant to the director of athletics.

She formerly served with the NCAA national office staff from 1991-97, serving as assistant chief of staff for Division I and as a legislative assistant. She also had a stint with the Atlantic 10 Conference as assistant commissioner for compliance from 1997-2002.

Campbell holds a master of science in sport management from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and a bachelor of science in commerce (marketing) from the University of Virginia. A former student-athlete, she played field hockey and basketball for Virginia.
