The Division I Board of Directors will continue discussions on academic reform and fiscal responsibility at its April 30 meeting. The presidents will also have the opportunity to review action taken by the Legislative Council on April 20.

In light of a recent pledge to continue its commitment to academic reform, the Board will hear reports from the Committee on Academic Performance, including that group’s progress on the development of the coach APR portfolio, which is a database that will provide APR information for each team a head coach has been associated with in his or her career. The portfolio was strongly supported by the Board and should be available on a limited basis beginning in 2010. The Board will also have the opportunity to review the most recent APR data before public release May 6.

Additionally, the group will hear updates from the Men’s Basketball Academic Enhancement Group and the Football Academic Working Group.

NCAA CFO Jim Isch will update the Board about the financial dashboard indicators program and discuss enhancements to the system for this spring along with future developments to the program. Isch will also provide the Board with an update regarding the Association’s financial initiatives.

An outside economic consultant will also talk with Board members about a study of Division I Football Bowl Subdivision revenues and expenditures related to athletics. The study, which has been done before, is an update using more recent data.
