Western Carolina and Wagner both recently unveiled updated logo designs. Wagner timed its release with the launch of a revamped athletics Web site.

Wagner’s redesigned site now includes interactive components and more information for fans. The timing coincided with the redesigned logos, intended to strengthen the Seahawk brand with a modern look.

The school worked with Keegan Design on the new logos and with Internet Consulting Services, Inc., on the redesigned Web site.

“We feel these new marks are more eye-catching and recognizable and will serve to enhance our brand,” said Athletics Director Walt Hameline. “I am confident that our student-athletes and all Seahawk fans across the land will be well-served by these new initiatives.”

Western Carolina revealed its new logo to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the selection of the Catamount as the school’s official athletics mascot. The school will also use its original school colors of purple and gold, replacing the bright purple and yellow used recently.

nullThe new logo was designed by Rickabaugh Graphics and is part of an overall university branding project led by Stamats, a higher education marketing firm. This is the 14th version of the Catamount logo since 1933.

“It is quite fitting that, on the 75th anniversary of our university’s sports teams becoming known as the Catamounts, we adopt a new mascot and logo for Western athletics more in keeping with the original thinking behind the selection of the name ‘Catamount,’” said Chancellor John Bardo. “We believe our new look better reflects the strength and agility of the native mountain cats of Western North Carolina.”
