Massachusetts softball coach Elaine Sortino earned her 1,000th win April 13th when her team swept Temple.

In her 28th season coaching the Minutewomen, Sortino is the 11th coach in NCAA history to reach the milestone. She was inducted into the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2004. She has led Massachusetts to 19 Atlantic-10 Conference titles and three trips to the Women’s College World Series.

Her career record stands at 1,000-430-5. She has won eight conference coach of the year awards, the most of any coach in any sport in the conference. The Minutewomen are currently owners of 13 consecutive trips to the NCAA tournament, the seventh-longest streak in the country.
