Finalists named for hockey humanitarian award

A record eight finalists have been recognized for the Hockey Humanitarian Award presented by BNY Mellon Wealth Management. Twenty-two student-athletes were nominated for the 2008 award.

The finalists are: Ryan Adler, Hobart; William Bruce, Willams; Ethan Cox, Colgate; Jeff DeFrancesca, Wisconsin-Stout; Missy Elumba, Northeastern; Jody Heywood, Ohio State, Ashley King, Wayne State (Michigan); and Caralyn Quan, Williams.

The winner will be named in conjunction with the NCAA Skills Challenge and Hobey Baker Award Friday, April 11, in Denver. The Hockey Humanitarian Award, now in its 13th year, honors personal character, scholarship and community service. Past winners have included Sarah Carlson of Boston College, Chanda Gunn of Northeastern and James Leger of Maine.
