Division I Rewind

The following is a summary of Division I news from the week of December 15-19.

•         The Basketball Academic Enhancement Group is changing the scope of its summer school attendance recommendationafter hearing concerns from conferences. The group is considering making summer school attendance permissive for sophomore and incoming freshmen, and molding the concept to those identified by institutions as “at-risk.”

•         Pacific dual-sport student-athlete Sam Lee will attend the inauguration of Barack Obama after she was selected to be a University Presidential Inaugural Scholar. Lee will also participate in a leadership conference in Washington, D.C.

•         Charlotte Athletics Director Judy Rose discussed the school’s decision to add football, the support in the community and why the school is excited even in the current economic climate.

•         Delaware will drop men’s indoor track as a varsity sport and add women’s golf as part of the school’s strategic plan for the future of the department. The changes include facilities improvements and construction projects.
