• The Graduation Success Rate for Division I reached all-time highs, the NCAA announced this week. Nearly eight out of every 10 student-athletes earns a degree within six years, and that number has increased since the NCAA began keeping the statistic.

• Navy added women’s tennis as a varsity sport. The school hired UMBC’s Kenneth Puryear to coach the team, and competition will begin in 2009.

• The Division I Legislative Council will review legislation at its first meeting October 20-21. The group is expected to begin discussions on the proposals submitted for the 2008-09 cycle and discuss its place in the governance structure.

• Georgetown will not reschedule its game against Colgate, cancelled earlier this month due to an outbreak of the norovirus on campus.
