The following is a summary of Division I News from the week of May 5-9.

• The fourth year of Academic Progress Rate data was released May 6, along with the list of teams penalized for failing to meet established benchmarks. Overall, most sports have shown improvement in aggregate, particularly football and baseball. However, men’s basketball still has some work to do.
• Vanderbilt’s Shan Foster is a well-rounded college senior – involved in athletics, music and community service. A standout on the Commodores’ basketball team, Foster also is an accomplished musician and mentors other students.
• Fresno State’s Margie Wright won her 1,300^th game on May 2. Wright is the winningest softball coach in the NCAA.
