Facilities: Tennessee-Martin will install artificial turf at Hardy M Graham Stadium beginning May 1. The project should be completed by July 15 and is expected to cost $750,000. About a third of the funding will come from friends of Skyhawk Athletics.

Conferences: In conjunction with Aeropostale, the Big East Conference named its male scholar-athlete of the year: Jeremy Stultz, a diving student-athlete from Pittsburgh. Milestones: Vermont men's basketball coach Mike Lonergan earned his 300th win January 30 when the Catamounts defeated Hartford, 81-76. He previously coached at Catholic and served as an assistant at Maryland …North Carolina women's basketball coach Sylvia Hatchell won her 500th game February 7 with a 79-47 win over Clemson. Hatchell is 500-194 after 22 seasons at North Carolina … Boise State men's basketball coach Greg Graham achieved his 100th victory February 7 with a 73-61 victory over Louisiana Tech. Graham has been at Boise State for five years. He was previously an assistant at Oregon … Mississippi State men’s basketball coach Rick Stansbury won his 200th game February 6, beating Alabama, 73-66. Stansbury was an assistant coach at Austin Peay before coming to Mississippi State as an assistant in the 1990s.

Miscellaneous: Gonzaga's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee collected more than 650 books and $1,000 to buy books for children in the Spokane area. The book drive was held in conjunction with a women's basketball game. The cash donations will purchase enough books through the Reading Is Fundamental program to provide an entire elementary school with new books. It was the fourth year for the Gonzaga book drive … Long Beach State accepted a $1.25 million gift from former student-athlete Terry Rhodes for the construction of a new tennis facility and the establishment of an endowed scholarship fund for tennis players. Rhodes designated $1 million for the endowment and $250,000 for the facility. The real estate lawyer graduated from Long Beach State in 1962.
