Wisconsin women’s volleyball coach Pete Waite earned his 500th career win September 12, the same day that Iowa field hockey coach Tracey Griesbaum captured her 100th victory.

Waite has coached at Wisconsin for nine years, leading the Badgers to 20-plus wins each season. Before coaching in Madison, he spent 11 years at Northern Illinois, where he was the winningest coach in program history. He was an assistant coach at Illinois State and has junior college and high school experience.

The Badgers swept Central Michigan, 25-14, 25-16, 25-19, to give Waite his milestone win.

Griesbaum, the Hawkeyes coach for the last nine years, is looking for a third consecutive Big Ten tournament championship. Her team helped that cause September 12, beating Stanford, 3-2, to give their coach the milestone win.

Griese has worked for USA Field Hockey and was head coach at LaSalle in the early 1990s.
