After a two-month stint as interim commissioner, Dan Beebe has been named to take the reins of the Big 12 Conference.  Before his appointment as interim commissioner, Beebe had spent four years as senior associate commissioner with the conference.

In that role, Beebe handled daily governance issues and coordinated the day-to-day activities of the conference office. He was a key figure in negotiating conference television contracts and enhancing football bowl opportunities.

Before joining the Big 12 in February 2003, Beebe spent 14 years as commissioner of the Ohio Valley Conference. During his tenure, Beebe served on the Division I Management Council and chaired the Football Championship Subdivision Governance Committee.

A former NCAA staff member, Beebe served two stints in the enforcement department of the national office. He has also worked at Wichita State.
Beebe becomes the Big 12’s third commissioner. He replaces Kevin Weiberg, who stepped down in July.
