In addition to authorizing funding for the division-specific research position held by Eric Hartung, the Division III Presidents Council also allocated funds during its April meeting for a Division III research fellowship during 2007-08.

The fellowship will be filled beginning July 1 by former Division III Management Council Chair Michael Miranda, librarian and faculty athletics representative at Plattsburgh State University of New York.

Miranda primarily will support the study of issues related to membership growth. He also will help implement legislation adopted at the 2007 Convention to require full compliance with all of the division’s regulations before the first year of provisional or reclassifying membership, and to step up monitoring of current members’ compliance with membership requirements.
