Sports sponsorship: Do­­­­minican College (New York) announced it will add a women’s track and field program this fall and eliminate its men’s cross country program.

Conferences: Tiffin Univer­sity will become the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference’s 14th member beginning in 2008-09. Tiffin will compete as a Division II independent during 2007-08. “The invitation to join the GLIAC is a testament to how far our athletics program has grown,” said Tiffin Athletics Director Ian Day. “The GLIAC is a great fit for the university on many levels, including our games against natural area rivals Findlay and Ashland.”

Milestones: West Virginia State University baseball coach Calvin Bailey won his 850th game this spring. In his 29th year, Bailey led the Yellow Jackets to a 14th West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference title. His career record is now 850-394-4 overall and 490-104-1 in the WVIAC.
