2006 (November 20) —
Abilene Christian adds its first men’s cross country title to the school’s 28 indoor and outdoor track and field national championships after posting three top-10 finishers to win the Division II Men’s Cross Country Championships. Junior Nicodemus Naimadu also wins his third individual national title in three tries to become the first runner in Division II history to claim three cross country crowns (see related story, page 11).

2004 (December 15) —
NCAA President Myles Brand announces the formation of the College Basketball Partnership (CBP), a panel of coaches, administrators, broadcast representatives and NCAA senior staff appointed to address the challenges and opportunities that face the sport.

2002 (December) —
The NCAA announces ESPN will increase the coverage of seven NCAA championships during the 2002-03 season as part of the Association’s new agreement with the network. A minimum of 35 additional championship rounds and a maximum of 41 rounds are to be broadcast among the Division I football semifinals, Division I women’s volleyball regional finals, Division I wrestling semifinals, Division I men’s ice hockey regional finals, Division I men’s lacrosse national quarterfinals, Division I softball regionals and the Division I baseball super regionals.

1982 (December 4) —
The University of West Georgia defeats Augustana College (Illinois), 14-0, to capture the Division III Football Championship and finish the season with a perfect 12-0 record in just the second year since the program was re-established after being discontinued in 1958.
