Missouri State Associate Athletics Director and former NCAA Committee on Women’s Atheltics Chair Darlene Bailey has joined the Western Athletic Conference as associate commissioner.

Bailey will oversee the governance process for the conference’s nine institutions and will work directly with WAC presidents, chancellors, athletics directors, senior woman administrators and faculty athletics representatives to implement the conference’s recently adopted strategic plan.

She joins the conference office after serving as associate director of athletics and senior woman administrator at Missouri State since 1998.

An active member of the NCAA governance structure, Bailey recently completed service as chair of the Committee on Women’s Athletics. She also serves on the Division I Women’s Basketball Discussion Enhancement Group, the Diversity Leadership Strategic Planning Committee and the Life and Work Balance Task Force.

Bailey was recently named a Division I Administrator of the Year by the National Association of Collegiate Women Athletics Administrators. She has previously worked at Wichita State, Idaho, Eastern Washington, South Alabama, Ohio and Chaminade.
