Helping fight cancer — Each spring the Hofstra University volleyball team hosts a 15-team invitational tournament that provides a highly competitive environment for regional rivals. This year’s tournament, however, was not only a stage for these female athletes to display their talents, but also an important fund-raiser for breast cancer research. Two Hofstra seniors, Jessica Levy (far right in photo) and Tessa Sphar (far left), worked with the Long Island Breast Cancer Action Coalition and raised more than $1,700 in donations.
