Conferences: The Big South Conference will offer a live video stream of select women’s basketball games through the conference’s premium content Web site. The feed will be free to subscribers. All home conference games will be available beginning with the 2006-07 season. The first round of the conference’s women’s basketball championship also will be available on the site. The streaming of women’s basketball games and all Big South events also will be available to premium content subscribers on an on-demand basis. Subscribers to The Big South EDGE presented by Aeropostale also receive live sporting events and championships, interviews and other features. The cost is $69.95 per year ... The Big Ten Conference announced it would change the bracket of its 2007 Women’s Basketball Tournament in an effort to continue attendance growth. The traditional Thursday opening-round schedule will be played in reverse, with the No. 8/9-seeded game being in prime time instead of the opening contest. On Friday, the No. 1 seed will now play at 6 p.m. Eastern time, followed by the No. 4/5 game in the nightcap. The No. 2 seed has now been moved to the opening game on Friday at noon. Eastern time, which precedes the No. 3 seed’s first contest. In previous tournaments, the No. 1 seed played in the first game on Friday.

Facilities: Sam Houston State University dedicated the Ron Randleman Strength and Fitness Center October 28. Randleman was head football coach at Sam Houston for 23 years, accumulating 132 victories, five conference championships and four national playoff appearances. A $250,000 gift from alumnus Ron Mafrige made the 11,000-square-foot facility possible. The center, which is available to all student-athletes, also houses offices, men’s and women’s dressing rooms, and a weight area ... Louisiana State University named the press box at Tiger Stadium in honor of former sports information director Paul Manasseh. It will be dedicated before the Tigers’ November 11 game against the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa. Manasseh was a part of professional and collegiate athletics for more than 40 years, serving as the original public relations director for the Denver Broncos. He was the LSU SID for 12 years, retiring in 1989. He died in 2000.

Milestones: The University of Con–necticut women’s ice hockey team set an NCAA record with six power play goals against the University of Maine, Orono, October 21. The previous record was five power play goals, held by three teams. The most recent team to accomplish five power play goals in a game was Ohio State University against Minnesota State Unviersity Mankato on October 11, 2002. Connecticut junior Jaclyn Hawkins scored six of the power play goals for her team, tying an NCAA record.
