The Middlebury College men’s hockey team claimed its third straight Division III championship with a 3-0 victory over St. Norbert College March 19. It is the third time a team has won at least three straight Division III national titles in ice hockey and the second time by Middlebury. The Panthers won five straight from 1995 through 1999 and the University of Wisconsin, Stevens Point, won titles in 1989, 1990 and 1991.

The 2006 title for Middlebury also gives the Panthers eight national championships, all within the last 12 years. To add to the impressive run, the Middlebury women’s ice hockey team also won its third straight national championship with a 3-1 victory over Plattsburgh State University of New York March 18.
