Bridget Belgiovine, who joined the Division III governance staff in 1997 after serving as the first chair of the Division III Management Council in the restructured Association, is departing after 8 1/2 years to serve as director of athletics and chair of physical education at Wellesley College.

Also, Corey Jackson has been appointed as director of diversity and inclusion after serving as an interim director for several months.

Belgiovine, who served as Division III assistant chief of staff and more recently as director of Division III, has been integrally involved in Division III governance since the early 1990s, first as a volunteer from the membership and then as a staff member.

While serving as director of athletics at the University of Wisconsin, La Crosse, she was elected to the former NCAA Council in 1994. She ultimately served in the volunteer position of Division III vice president in the former governance structure before chairing the Management Council.

Belgiovine also was a member of the Division III Task Force to Review the NCAA Membership Structure, which oversaw the reorganization of the Division III governance structure.

She also has been active in the National Association of Collegiate Women Athletic Administrators (NACWAA), serving as a board member and as president. She received the Division III Commissioners Association Meritorious Service Award in 2004 and was honored by NACWAA as administrator of the year in 2003. Belgiovine will assume her new duties at Wellesley College September 1.

Before her service at Wisconsin-La Crosse, she served as assistant athletics director and assistant professor at Springfield College. She earned an undergraduate degree in physical education at The College of New Jersey and a master’s in physical education at Springfield.

Jackson has served in the diversity and inclusion staff under Vice President Charlotte Westerhaus since 2005. He worked as an assistant director in the student-athlete reinstatement staff for three years before that.

In his director role, Jackson develops and implements strategies, policies and programs that facilitate a diverse and inclusive environment for student-athletes, and build a critical mass of under-represented coaches, athletics administrators and sports officials within the NCAA membership.

Jackson also works with other national office staffs to develop and maintain a diversity-related strategic plan that is consistent with the national office’s core purpose, values and outcome-oriented goals. He also oversees a diversity and inclusion education program for athletics administrators, student-athletes, coaches and officials.

He came to the NCAA staff in 2002 after a two-year stint as an assistant legislative counsel in Washington, D.C. Jackson has a bachelor’s degree from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and a juris doctorate from the University of Miami (Florida) law school.
