Milestones: Phil Kahler became the first women's basketball coach in Division III to collect 700 victories when St. John Fisher defeated Keuka College March 3 in the quarterfinals of the ECAC Upstate Women's Basketball Championship. Kahler, in his 31st season at the school, is St. John Fisher's first and only coach. "Our program has won 700 games because of our players," Kahler said. "We've always recruited players who know how to be winners on and off the court and that's the reason we've been able to win as many games as we have" ... Brian Morehouse recorded his 200th coaching win in women's basketball when Hope College defeated Rochester< College February 16. Morehouse, who is in his ninth season at the school, entered the season ranked ninth among Division III women's basketball coaches in winning percentage, and this year's team tied for the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association regular-season title (its fifth title in six seasons) ... Amanda Van Voorhis notched her 100th career victory in women's basketball this season at Salve Regina University.

Facilities: The University of Wisconsin, Whitewater, will honor former tennis coach Ron Wangerin with an April 2 dedication ceremony to name the center court of the school's outdoor tennis facility in his honor. Wangerin taught and coached at Wisconsin-Whitewater from 1966 to 1994, leading the men's tennis team to conference titles in 1967, 1982, 1988 and 1989. He also coached the women's team from 1974 to 1983, leading that squad to a conference crown in 1982. "Ron's contribution of personal and financial resources have helped create a state-of-the-art tennis complex of UW-Whitewater," said Athletics Director Paul Plinske. "As a dedicated professional in both academics and athletics, Dr. Wangerin impacted students and student-athletes alike." Current tennis coach Frank Barnes credited Wangerin with creating a tradition in the sport at the school. "He paved the way for the rest of us with his dominating team and terrific tennis camps," Barnes said.
