Milestones: Jay Martin earned his 500th coaching victory in men's soccer November 5 with Ohio Wesleyan University's shutout of Allegheny College in the North Coast Athletic Conference tournament championship match. Martin became the seventh collegiate men's coach to reach the 500-win mark, and he achieved the feat in 29 seasons. None of the other six coaches reached the milestone more quickly, though Jerry Yeagley of Indiana University, Bloomington, also won his 500th match in his 29th season. Martin, whose 1998 squad won the Division III Men's Soccer Championship, has coached teams to 47 victories in 28 Divsion III tournament appearances -- both records. Overall, his teams have won more than 80 percent of their games.
