Truman won its fifth straight team title at the Division II Women's Swimming and Diving Championships March 9-12 in Orlando, Florida. The Bulldogs won the crown by 49 1/ 2 points over Drury, which has finished second in each year of the Bulldogs' reign.

Truman won two relay events and relied on team depth to secure this year's crown. The team of Diana Betsworth, Emily Pufall, Whitney Jensen and Sarah Dance won the 400-yard freestyle relay, the meet's final event, with a time of 3:24.44. Betsworth, Jensen and Dance teamed with Molly Polette to win the 800-yard freestyle relay a day earlier.

Truman's depth was evident as the Bulldogs featured at least two point-scorers in each swimming event. The Bulldogs placed five in the 100-yard freestyle, with Dance and Betsworth finishing third and fourth, respectively. Truman also scored 51 points in the 200-yard freestyle and placed three in the top eight in the 200-yard backstroke.

Michaela Osborn also helped by placing second in both the 100-yard and 200-yard breaststrokes. Betsworth also was the runner-up in the 200-, 500- and 1,000-yard freestyles.

The Bulldogs grabbed the lead in the team standings on Day 2 of the meet after Drury led the first day. UC San Diego finished third in the team standings, followed by West Chester and North Dakota.

A highlight of the meet came when Cal State Bakersfield senior Loni Burton won her NCAA record-tying 12th individual swimming title in her three-year career. She set a meet record in the 100-yard freestyle (49.33) on the last day of the meet. Her other titles in this year's meet came in the 50-yard freestyle, the 200-yard freestyle and the 100-yard butterfly. Burton, who was named the swimmer of the meet for the third consecutive season, tied the University of Florida's Tracy Calkins as the most decorated swimmer in NCAA history.

Other stars in the included Tampa's Chelsea Hastings, who won three events -- the 100- and 200-yard backstrokes, and the 200-yard individual medley, the latter in meet-record time.

Tammy Leane of West Chester (500-yard freestyle, 400-yard individual medley), Rosanna Delurgio of UC San Diego (100- and 200-yard breaststrokes), Natalie Cardoza of Drury (1,000- and 1,650-yard freestyles) and Jamie Wolf of Clarion (one- and three-meter dives) won two events each.
