Conferences: Eastern Illinois University and South Dakota State University are joining the Mid-Continent Conference as associate members in men's and women's swimming and diving, effective immediately. Both will be eligible to participate in the league's postseason meet. "We are delighted to add Eastern Illinois and South Dakota State as associate members in men's and women's swimming and diving," said conference Commissioner Tom Douple. "They will enhance the conference championship with additional participants, coaches and spectators." Eastern Illinois has been competing as an independent in the sport since 1996-97. South Dakota State, which moved from Division II to Division I in 2004, also has been competing as an independent in swimming and diving. The Mid-Continent Conference includes nine full members -- Centenary College (Louisiana); Chicago State University; Indiana University-Purdue University at Indianapolis; the University of Missouri, Kansas City; Oakland University; Oral Roberts University; Southern Utah University; Valparaiso University; and Western Illinois University. The league offers championships in 19 sports.

Facilities: The Creighton University men's soccer program is enjoying its first full season in Michael G. Morrison, S.J., Stadium, which was completed in the middle of last year. The $13 million stadium is the first on-campus facility for the nationally ranked program. School officials noted that attendance had been slipping at the team's former home, a city-run park 15 miles west of campus, but now Creighton has returned to the top 10 in attendance. Season ticket holders at Morrison Stadium enjoy chair-back seats and a canopy overhang that protects against wind and rain. Terraced seating on the opposite side of the grandstand provides for a family atmosphere. The 6,000-seat facility also provides luxury suites, a banquet area and a press box.
