Acting for the Division I Management Council, the Division I Academics/Eligibility/Compliance Cabinet Subcommittee on Legislative Review/Interpretations issued the following interpretation:

Eligibility/ Graduation Requirement

1. Completion of Core-Course Requirements After Eighth Semester. A prospect who receives an incomplete grade (as opposed to a withdrawal) for a core course taken during the prospect's eighth semester may complete the course after the eighth semester and use the core course for purposes of meeting initial-eligibility requirements, provided:

a. The failure to complete the core course during the eighth semester was due to circumstances beyond the prospective student-athlete's control;

b. The granting of an incomplete or extension as well as the completion of the core course is in accordance with the high-school's policies for all students;

c. The completed core course is placed on the high-school transcript for the prospective student-athlete's eighth semester; and

d. The prospective student-athlete completes the core course before initial full-time enrollment at a collegiate institution.
