Milestones: Dan Parnell, baseball coach at California State University, San Bernardino, won his 300th collegiate game March 13 when the Coyotes defeated California State University, Los Angeles, 7-6. Parnell recently completed his 13th season at Cal State San Bernardino. He has a career record of 314-344.

Miscellaneous: Kutztown

University of Pennsylvania unveiled its new athletics logo at its all-sports banquet April 27. The university designed the new logo in conjunction with Phoenix Designworks of New York City. The logo features a golden bear on top of the wording "Kutztown University Golden Bears." The wording was designed to complement the new Kutztown University logo that was unveiled last fall ... West Virginia Gov. Bob Wise has signed legislation permitting West Virginia State College to change its name to West Virginia State University. The name change became effective April 7 ... Coach Heather Sisneros is requesting $100 contributions to cover expenses for a senior season for seven members of the San Francisco State University women's volleyball team. In a letter to friends of the program, Sisneros estimated the expenses for the senior season to be about $72,000. Plans to discontinue the program were announced in May...Shepherd College has changed its name to Shepherd University ... The Great Lakes Valley Council of Presidents announced June 8 that Kentucky Wesleyan University and its men's basketball program have been placed on probation for the 2004-05 academic year. As a result, the team will not be eligible for the 2005 GLVC championship, the GLVC conference tournament or the NCAA Division II championship. In addition, the institution will not be eligible for revenue-sharing from the conference during its one-year probationary period. Though it will not be eligible for postseason play, Kentucky Wesleyan will participate in GLVC regular-season competition.
