Conferences: Fort Hays State University has accepted an invitation to join the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association beginning with the 2006-07 academic year. Fort Hays State will fill the MIAA void left by the University of Missouri, Rolla, which announced its plans earlier this year to join the Great Lakes Valley Conference. "We are pleased that Fort Hays State has accepted our invitation to join the MIAA," said Commissioner Ralph McFillen. "The university is an excellent fit, both athletically and academically. We look forward to working with their coaches and administrators." Fort Hays State has been a member of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference since 1989. It has been a Division II member since 1992. The institution currently sponsors 13 sports (seven men's and six women's).

Milestones: Wingate University men's soccer coach Gary Hamill won his 150th career match September 29 when the Bulldogs defeated Catawba College.

Miscellaneous: The University of North Florida announced that it will reclassify to Division I ... The Division II Conference Commissioners Association recently honored Adam W. Herbert, former chair of the Division II Presidents Council, with its Award of Merit. Herbert, former president of the University of North Florida and current president of Indiana University, Bloomington, became the original chair of the Division II Presidents Council after the Association restructured in August 1997. Herbert also chaired the Division II Transition Team, which was one of the principal groups overseeing the restructuring of NCAA governance, and was a member of the NCAA Executive Committee.
