The NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball Committee has announced regional sites and hosts for the 2004 Division I Women's Volleyball Championships.

The volleyball committee, which met February 2-5 in Savannah, Georgia, selected the following four regional sites: the Kentucky International Convention Center in Louisville, Kentucky; the Sports Pavilion in Minneapolis; Bank America Arena in Seattle; and the Resch Center in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

The University of Louisville; the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities; the University of Washington; and the University of Wisconsin, Green Bay, will serve as hosts for the regionals, which will be held December 9-10, 10-11 or 11-12.

"We are excited to be selected as one of four regional hosts," said Minnesota Athletics Director Joel Maturi. "It goes without saying that our staff takes great pride in playing host to NCAA championships. We have a knowledgeable and loyal volleyball fan following that will once again step up and enthusiastically embrace this championship."

Washington volleyball coach Jim McLaughlin said the fan following in his area also will make for an exciting event.

"We are pleased the committee recognizes the growing support for women's volleyball not only in Seattle but throughout the state of Washington," McLaughlin said. "It is clear that interest in women's volleyball is increasing at all levels and this wonderful event will only foster that growing interest. I am confident that the whole community will help make this event a tremendous success and prove to the NCAA that it made a wise choice in selecting our university to host one of the regionals."

The 2004 Division I Women's Volleyball Championship will be at Long Beach Arena in Long Beach, California, December 16 and 18. The 2005 championship will be at the Alamodome in San Antonio December 15 and 17. The 2006 championship will be at the Omaha Convention Center and Arena in Lincoln, Nebraska, December 14 and 16.
