The Division I Women's Basketball Committee has determined a timeline to select preliminary-round sites for the 2007 and 2008 Division I Women's Basketball Championships. Sites to be determined are first- and second-round and regional venues for 2007 and 2008.

The committee also has agreed that with the conclusion of this cycle, the men's and women's preliminary-round selection cycle will be consistent, and future bid cycles will be coordinated to maximize selection options.

The following timeline will be used to select preliminary-round sites for 2007 and 2008:

  • December 3, 2004. Staff distributes specifications agreement and facility-availability questionnaire to each Division I institution and conference.
  • January 17, 2005. Deadline for prospective hosts to return agreement and questionnaire.
  • February 14, 2005. Site-selection subcommittee meets by teleconference to identify finalists.
  • February 18, 2005. Staff e-mails cover letter with key-contacts form, proposed-budget form and hotel-confirmation form to finalists. Also, regret letters are sent to non-finalists.

* April 22, 2005. Deadline for finalists sites to return the key-contacts, proposed-budget and hotel-confirmation forms.

  • May 20, 2005. Site-selection subcommittee meets by teleconference to review finalists' information and recommend sites.
  • Summer meeting 2005. Women's basketball committee selects sites at summer meeting and forwards recommendation to Division I Championships/Competition Cabinet.

The 2006 Women's Final Four is April 2 and 4 at the FleetCenter in Boston and will be hosted by Northeastern University and Harvard University. The 2007 Women's Final Four is April 1 and 3 at Gund Arena in Cleveland, hosted by Cleveland State University and the Mid-American Conference. The University of South Florida hosts the 2008 Women's Final Four at the St. Pete Times Forum in Tampa, Florida. <
