Milestones: Florida International University women's soccer coach Everton Edwards won his 150th game when his Golden Panthers downed Texas State University-San Marcos, 3-1, September 5. After the win, the 20-year veteran coach's record stood at 150-153-28. Edwards is one of only 36 active coaches with 150-plus wins and one of just seven to compile that many wins at one institution ... Ted Newland, men's water polo coach at the University of California, Irvine, claimed career victory No. 700 September 4 when the Anteaters topped the University of Redlands,19-8, in the Triton Invitational at the University of California, San Diego. Newland, whose record stood at 700-331-5 after the win, is in his 39th season at UC Irvine and he leads all collegiate water polo coaches in wins.

Miscellaneous: The Mid-American Conference has reached an agreement with Comcast Local that will provide extended coverage of the league's men's and women's sports programming for an initial term of three years. The initiative launched September 2 with live coverage the Eastern Michigan University vs. University at Buffalo, the State University of New York, football game. "We are very excited about this new relationship with Comcast Local. It will afford the MAC unprecedented exposure in front of our fans who support our member institutions," said MAC Commissioner Rick Chryst. Comcast Local, a new cable programming channel, offers locally oriented coverage of events, en- tertainment and sports programming. The channel is available exclusively to Comcast cable customers in southeastern Michigan, with plans to availability to customers across the state at a later date. Under the agreement, Comcast Local will broadcast football, men's and women's basketball, women's volleyball, men's and women's soccer, softball, and baseball. Coverage of the MAC men's and women's basketball tournaments also will be offered.
