Milestones: University of Connecticut head field hockey coach Nancy Stevens became one of four head coaches in NCAA field hockey history to record 400 career wins when her Huskies defeated Cornell, 6-0, October 24. Stevens joins Jan Hutchinson (Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania), Beth Anders (Old Dominion University) and Jan Trapp (Messiah College) as the only coaches to record 400 career wins. Stevens' career mark stood at 400-138-24 as of October 27.

Miscellaneous: Champs Sports and Florida Citrus Sports have announced a partnership to present the Champs Sports Bowl in Orlando, Florida. The 2004 Champs Sports Bowl, formerly known as the Tangerine Bowl, will be played December 21 at the Florida Citrus Bowl Stadium and air live on ESPN. The game will again pit teams from the Atlantic Coast and Big 12 Conferences. In support of the game, Champs Sports stores in the Orlando market, as well as the markets of the competing teams, will carry Champs Sports Bowl apparel and accessories. The stores also will carry gear specific to the two ACC and Big 12 rival teams. This year's Champs Sports Bowl marks the 15th year of the game, but only the fourth in Orlando. Before moving to Central Florida in 2001, the game was played at Pro Player Stadium in Miami for 11 years under various titles.
