Miscellaneous: The University of Missouri, Kansas City, athletics department recently unveiled a new set of athletics marks. UMKC began the development process last January with sports branding firm Plan B Branding of San Diego. Before developing the marks, Plan B worked with members of the UMKC alumni, faculty, student body, student-athletes and constituents to define UMKC's unique personality. The firm also helped conduct a campus-wide survey asking students to identify the "UMKC Experience." "A university's image is much more than a logo on a shirt or cap. It's a unique story waiting to be told," said Plan B Branding partner Jason Klein. "All the students, athletes and alumni provided us with wonderful input of UMKC's unique story." The new primary mark depicts an athletic-looking kangaroo in a blue UMKC sweater, with an updated "UMKC" arched above the kangaroo. The new set of marks also contains three secondary marks, a word mark and sports-specific marks for all UMKC intercollegiate athletics teams. The current UMKC athletics logo, in use since 1999-2000, will remain in use.
