The NCAA Men's Volleyball Committee reviewed bids for hosting the 2007 championship at its July 12-14 meeting in Key West, Florida.

The committee is proposing that Ohio State University host the 2007 National Collegiate Men's Volleyball Championship. This must be approved by the Division I Championships/Competition Cabinet.

The University of California, Los Angeles, is hosting the 2005 event May 5 and 7, and Pennsylvania State University will host the 2006 championship.

Ohio State hosted the championship previously in 1978, 1983 and most recently in 1997. The Buckeyes have participated in 13 of the 35 championships.

In addition to site recommendations, the committee discussed communication issues. To foster increased communication between committee members and the coaching constituency, the committee is developing avenues for interaction, including perhaps an e-mail exchange or another more structured forum.

Committee members emphasized the importance of obtaining regular input from the coaches on significant issues in men's volleyball.

In other action, the committee recommended that Bill Shumard, athletics director at Long Beach State University, succeed Penn State Assistant Athletics Director Robert S. Krimmel as the next chair of the committee when Krimmel's term on the committee expires in September.
